Collaboration Diagrams

While interaction diagrams visualize a procedural representation of system behaviour, collaboration diagrams support declarative models of the interactions.

A collaboration diagram shows the connections underlying the interactions between components. Components are represented by boxes, connections by arrows from the originator of the event to the receiver of the message. The Collaboration Diagram Editor supports two different modes:

  • it can visualize a use case by showing all connections used within that use case. The sequence of the use is represented by numbering the connection arrows. This mode shows diagrams similar to UML collaboration diagrams

  • it can be used to show and modify all connections (for all use cases). In this mode, it resembles component workbenches as known from tools like the Visual Age IDEs or the PARTS Workbench.
